The island of Lipari lies just 1 nautical mile north of Vulcano, 3 nm south of Salina, and 9 nm southwest of Panarea. The Sicilian towns of Portorosa and Milazzo are just south of Lipari. The town of Tropea in Calabria is 46 nm to the east.
